IN a sign of major recovery in the Queensland property market, a Brisbane home has sold for $6.9 million, blitzing sales in the rest of the country in the past week.
A five-bedroom waterfront home in Hawthorne sold for $6.9 million on Tuesday according to data released by CoreLogic RP Data this morning.
That saw the 132 Virginia Avenue, Hawthorne home top the national top 10 in the week ending Sunday February 8.
The five-bedroom, six-bathroom, four-car house was sold by Ray White East Brisbane after an extensive sales process. Records show the three-level luxury home had been on the market since June 2012, with the most recent sale tenders closing on October 14 last year.
The stunning property commands a 1,118 square metre block, with 27-metre water frontage and city views.
Among its selling points were a soundproof home cinema with reclining chairs, high definition projector and five-point surround sound, space for a gymnasium or home office with uninterrupted water and city views, a 12-metre pontoon with deep water mooring, a commercial grade lift for all levels, a work shop, heated in-ground salt water swimming pool, air-conditioning, and a state of the art home automation system to control lights, video, stereo/audio and internet routing.
The home was only one of two that were not from New South Wales to make the top 10 list - with a Forrest, ACT home ranked 10th at $2.09M.
New South Wales dominated the rest of the weekly top 10, from a five-bedroom East Gosford home selling for $4.05M to a Mosman five-bedder going for $2.35M.
