Bethany Correira was a young woman from Alaska. She had gone missing from her apartment on M street in Bootleggers Cove since 2003.

Dateline: Who Is Bethany Correira? 

Bethany Correira was a native of Talkeetna, a small town in Alaska. She is the daughter of Bill and Linda Correira.

Her parents were living in a cabin near a pond since the 1970s. They had raised three more of Bethany’s siblings: two brothers and a sister.

The children were homeschooled by their mom. Thus, Bethany was trained to be an independent and self-sufficient young girl.

Before she turned twenty, Bethany had sailed to the South Pacific. She traveled to Nepal, while still working as a nanny for a family doctor.

The young lady had a  very good connection with the climbers at the base of Mt. Denali.

Everyone who knows Correira has described her as a courageous, athletic, and beautiful smart lady.

During the time of her disappearance, she was 21 years of age. If she is alive in 2021, she would have already been in her early forties.

Mystery At Bootleggers Cove: Was Bethany Correira Found?

Bethany Correira’s disappearance from Bootleggers Cover is one of the most mysterious cases in history,

In the spring of 2003, Bethany had rented an apartment on M Street in Bootlegger’s Cove. Suddenly, she disappeared becoming contactless.

After months of investigation, detectives found out that, Mike Lawson had killed her. She was dumped in the woods with help from Mike’s brother.

Bob, Lawson’s brother, who was unable to handle the guilt had revealed everything about the murder by his brother.

However, the recovery of Bethany’s body would have to wait until the winter. Finally, Mike Lawson had admitted to shooting Bethany.

Lawson recalls shooting her after being high on Cocaine. He says she was killed in an accident.

On May 1, 2004, Bethany’s dead body was discovered. Her bones and clumps of hair were already scattered by the wild animals.

It was precisely one year after her disappearance, her dead body was discovered.

Latest Updates On Bethany Correira Murder Case

Mike Lawson was charged with Bethany Correira’s murder in 2004. He was further blamed for six counts, arson, and tampering with the evidence.

Eventually, Mike’s brother Bob Lawson was also found dead. He died after committing suicide from carbon monoxide poisoning.

A note was left by Bob before his suicide. It tells that, he was unable to testify against his brother. The death further distracted the murder case.

Six months later, It resulted that Mike Lawson had sexual assault records. He had been accused several times of assaulting women. 

Ultimately, the killer was Bethany Correira sentenced to 99 years in prison.
