Solange Knowles went on Twitter to share an unfortunate concert experience where she felt unsafe and targeted because of her skin color.

Solange and her husband, Alan Ferguson, took their 11-year-old son and his friend to a Kraftwerk concert in New Orleans. She says that they were one of the few black people at the concert. They began dancing when 4 white women yelled “sit down” and threw something at her back. Solange’s son told her that it was a lime.

“But in this moment, I’m just going to share my experience…So that maybe someone will understand, why many of us don’t feel safe……in many white spaces.”
